EGYPTIAN WOODEN BABOON FIGURINE
Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A wooden figurine of a seated baboon resting on a rectangular base. The body is compact, with a slightly hunched posture and arms resting on the knees. The head is rounded, with a prominent muzzle and incised details marking the nostrils and mouth. The eyes are recessed, and positioned beneath a slightly protruding brow ridge. The limbs are proportionally thick, with carved fingers and toes extending forward.
