Double-Page Hand-Colored Copperplate Map. Nuremberg, first edition 1707 (or later).
Drawn after Sanson, this is one of Homann’s earliest maps and reflects the engraving style and detail which is indicative of the his work early in his career. The Holy Land is divided into 12 tribes.
Cartouche at upper left corner featuring Moses accepting the ten commandments and another at lower right featuring Moses, Aaron, and the two spies of Moses bearing a bunch of grapes.
Included in this lot is a antique 'Plan Of Philadelphia' map.
