Prospectus for Tanach Mincha Chadashah, with manuscript subscriber list from Amsterdam, 1805. Unrecorded!

Prospectus for the Tanach edition titled 'Mincha Chadashah’, with Ashkenazi interpretation and explanation, with Rash”i commentary, Commentary Mikhlal Yofi and Sefer HaTualiyot from the Ralb”g.  That was printed in Karlsruhe, 1805.

Fold out prospectus in Judeo-German with information for subscribers. Samples of first chapter of Joshua on white and light green paper.

Carlsruhe : Seligman and Joseph Ettlinger, 1805

With four manuscript pages listing the signatures of c. 35 subscribers from the heads of the Amsterdam community. Some sign themselves & some have someone sign on their behalf.

With approbations from the Gaonim Rabbi Yedidiah Thiah Weil, the Rabbi of Carlsruhe and Rabbi Moshe Tuviah Zuntheim, Rabbi of Hanau. These approbations weren't printed in the end & are unknown from any other source.

Interesting for the history of printing and distribution of books in the early 19th century.

Subscribers specified the type of paper they wished to order: “schreib paper” or “post paper.” In addition, those ordering ten copies receive an additional copy complimentary.

This prospectus is not noted by Vinograd who records the published Bible, yet does not list the names of the printers as noted in the prospectus. Unrecorded in any other source & very likely the only surviving copy.

This particular prospectus is likely the publisher’s personal copy is it contains a manuscript record of the subscribers.

25 Leaves, Including 18 printed sides & 4 written sides. 19.5 Cm.

Overall Great condition, some stains, original cardboard binding, spine slightly damaged.
