Work of the secretary of the Princes of Savoy, made in the name of the Marquis d'Este. Turin, For Gio. Domenico Tarino. & Nbsp; Contemporary soft parchment, chiseled title on the tail flap, the author's general dedicatory epistle to Vittorio Amedeo, prince of Piedmont dated from Briga [Alta], 15 December 1607. Paolo Filippi dalla Briga, poet and secretary at the court of the Dukes of Savoy in Turin, deals with the the art of writing letters and choosing "compliments". He insists that the formulas used in the letters must adapt to the circumstances. This repertoire was a great success; the work, published for the first time in 1601, went through several editions, one of which was posthumous (1619).
