"A Book Like This Deserves Approbations" – A Fine Edition of "Sefer HaBachur" by Rabbi Eliyahu Bachur – Berlin, 5527 (1767)

The grammatical book of Eliyahu HaLevi Ashkenazi, containing matters of Hebrew grammar and their rules, by the famous grammarian Rabbi Eliyahu Bachur, one of the greatest scholars of the Masoretic tradition in all generations.

A fine edition, proofread and corrected by Rabbi Shemaya Drizen of Berlin, with wide margins.

With the approbation of the rabbinical court of the Berlin community, who write of the author: "... מבחר אמריו, והטוב שבספריו, הוא ספר הבחור… ועל ספר כזה ראוי ליתן הסכמות…"!

Rabbi Eliyahu HaLevi Ashkenazi (5239-5309 [1469-1549]), also known as Rabbi Eliyahu Bachur, was one of the greatest grammarians and Masoretic scholars, authoring foundational books in these fields.
The Gaon of Vilna "היה נוטה בדקדוק אחר רבי אליהו בחור" (Tosefet Ma’aseh Rav, page 14b).

Printed at the home of Rabbi Aharon Speyer, son-in-law of the Gaon Rabbi David Frankel, Chief Rabbi of Berlin and author of "Korban HaEdah."

Berlin, 5527 (1767). Pagination: [2], 39, [1] leaves. 19.8 cm. Condition: Good, thick, high-quality paper. Slight stains. Simple old binding.

Ancient signature on the title page: "Yechiel Oppenheim." Signature of the renowned scribe Rabbi Moshe Meir Yashar, of blessed memory.
