Paleolithic Acheulean Handaxe - Mauritania
A large fine Acheulean hand axe in brown quartzite material. Comes from Mauritania in the African Sahara. Good condition with desert weathered patina. A good example, well made and skillfully thinned at tip. Measures approx. 7.75" long. Item is older than Acheulean period (100,000 yrs).
