In The Wood is a beautiful colored lithograph by Guy Bardone. Hand-signed in pencil on the lower right margin. Hand-numbered in pencil on the lower left margin. Edition of 150 prints. Perfect conditions, except for some light stains on paper. Including passepartout. The artwork represents a peaceful landscape, with a lake and mountains in the background. Guy Bardone (1927-2015) was one of the most important members of the French New Figurative Art. He studied with the master Maurice Bianchon, Jules Cavailles, and François Desnoyer at the Ecole National Supérieure des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. In 1953, Bardone exposed in group exhibitions, such as Celebrities and Revelations of Contemporary Painting, at the Musée Galliera in Paris. In 1954, he exhibited at the Ecole de Paris Exhibition in Galerie Charpentier. He won some important awards, including the prize of Félix Fénéon in 1952 and the prize of the Greenshields Foundation in 1957. Bardone’s artworks are preserved in important museums like the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the National Library of France, the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Neuchâtel Art Museum in Switzerland, the Yamagata Museum of Art in Japan, and the Chimei Museum in Taiwan.
