Cedercreutz, Emil Herman Robert (May 16,1879 - January 28, 1949)
Friendship diary with silhouette

Friendship diary dedicated to the Italian Minister Attilio Tamaro, Honorary President of the Italian Finnish Institute of Helsingfors (Helsinki), capital of Finland. The diary is a true collection of original works of art, created by the master Emil Cedercreutz: there are 84 silhouettes of well-known personalities of the time, 11 silhouettes of landscapes and important Italian cities such as Rome, Venice, Naples. Each page measures cm. 19x24. Leatherette cover, with the initials A.T. similarly and the date April 23, 1931. Front page with dedication "To his illustrious honorary President the Minister of Italy Attilio Tamaro with deep gratitude. The Italian Finnish Institute in Helsingfors" and signed by Emile Cedercreutz as president of the aforementioned institute . The silhouettes are original, in light black paper, applied to the pages of the diary. The portraits of the characters are accompanied at the bottom by the autograph signature of the person portrayed; the depictions of landscapes and cities are still original silhouettes and signed autographs by Emile Cedercrutz himself. The diary contains about 193 autograph signatures of Finnish diplomats, representatives of the institute, employees, and friends. Cedercreutz reformed Finnish sculpture by introducing the themes of work and everyday life., Horses were his most loved theme. He was one of the first representatives of the impressionist and realistic sculptural style in Finland. In 1914 Cedercreutz began working in his new atelier on the Kokemäenjoki river in the municipality of Harjavalta, also collecting historical artifacts from the countryside of the province of Satakunta, and in 1916 he founded a museum in Harjavalta, now known as the Emil Cedercreutz Museum, where collections of works by Cedercreutz, cultural history, and art exhibitions are held.
Measurements of the diary about cm. 20x25. Very good condition
