Early 19th Century Indigo 9 Patch Quilt measuring 77x97". Comprised of 143 9 Patch Blocks, 5.25x5.25", set on point, 11x13, with small print on white setting squares and indigo print setting triangles. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. There is a thin cotton batting and an off white reverse, also hand pieced. The edge is finished English knife edge style, with the additional stitches along the perimeter. There are 2 indigo resist prints in the blocks and triangles, and 2 small print on white fabric making up the setting squares. The blue print has faded, the brown print in 4 squares is starting to pop. I believe these fabric may be as early as the 1790s. It is in fair condition with the imperfections described and additional small spots and discolorations and stains. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter's Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
