AN INDO-PERSIAN CHAINMAIL SHIRT WITH PLATES, 17TH CENTURY

A well-preserved chainmail shirt of the 17th century with rectangular plates on the front and back. The plates on the front of the shirt are large and are affixed by attachment points for lacing up the front of the armor. The back of the armor is made up of numerous smaller plates that overlap vertically to prevent gaps and increase flexibility. The rest of the armor is entirely of chainmail.

Indo-Persia - 17th Century

Approx. L: 22 in., (55.9 cm.)

Condition: Good overall with some broken or missing chain links, refer to photographs for specifics. The plates are solid with a nice patina. Some plates have minor dents. Some attachments on front plates appear to have been replaced in the period.
