AN INDO-PERSIAN CEREMONIAL SHIELD, QAJAR PERIOD, 19TH CEN.
A large dhal shield of a round convex form with four domes and a hammered lion head at the center. This shield is richly decorated with etched Arabic inscriptions in cartouches and human figures. The engraving and silver inlay are very elaborate and form a nice ensemble.
It is a beautiful and quite rare ceremonial Dhal shield.
