Bas épaule, étiquette tachée, capsule abimée
Low shoulder, Stained Label, Damaged Capsule

Label Artist: JEAN COCTEAU (1889-1963)
The countless drawings of Cocteau repeat to the point of obsession a profile of an ephebe with deep eyes, the same one he drew for the label of Mouton Rothschild 1947. Alas, the original work has been lost; the one on display here is due to the talent of Jean Marais, a famous actor and also an appreciated painter, who, at the request of Philippine de Rothschild, agreed to reproduce the drawing by his friend Jean Cocteau.

Provenance: Private wine cellar from a Villa in the South of France. (preserved in the cellar with regulated hydrometry and temperature)
