Quelques altérations dues à l’encre.
Michele Mazzarino, frère cadet du cardinal ministre français Jules Mazarin, étudie la théologie à Rome et Bologne.
Archevêque d’Aix-en-Provence de 1645 jusqu’à sa mort, nommé sur proposition de son frère qui régit entièrement sa carrière afin de servir les intérêts français : il est ainsi nommé ambassadeur à Rome et obtient en 1647 le chapeau de cardinal (cardinal-prêtre de Sainte-Cécile-du-Trastevere). Rappelé par Jules Mazarin, il est envoyé comme vice-roi en Catalogne.
Michele est le concepteur avec l’architecte Jean Lombard du quartier d’Aix-en-Provence qui porte son nom, remarquable exemple d’architecture des XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles
