KHLEBNIKOV VLADIMIR (1885-1922) Ryav! Perchatki [Gloves], 1908-1914: [collection]. St. Petersburg: EUY, [1914]. - 30, [2] pp.; illustrated; 25x17.8 cm. Edition of 1,000 copies. This is the first book of poems by Velimir Khlebnikov.
Illustrations by K. Malevich and D. Burliuk. In publisher's typographic cover. The book is housed in a modern cardboard case with a leather spine. In very good condition. Restoration work done on the edges of the cover and spine, minor stains.
This is the first attempt by A. Kruchenykh to publish a collection of poems by V. Khlebnikov. In late 1913, the collection "Ryav! Perchatki" [Gloves] was released, and in March of the following year, an expanded version titled "Izbornik stikhov" [Selected Poems] was published. Alongside previously published works from other editions, it includes the poem "Vila i leshiy" [Vila and the Wood Spirit], the plays "Mirskontsa" [The World's End] and "Asparukh," and the manifesto article "Ryav o zheleznykh dorogakh" [Roar about Railroads]. The anthology features illustrations by K. Malevich, previously published in the collection "Troe" [Three], as well as drawings by D. Burliuk from "Sadka sudey II" [Trap of Judges II].
This is the first book of poems by Velimir Khlebnikov.
Velimir Khlebnikov (born Viktor Vladimirovich Khlebnikov; 1885-1922) was a Russian poet and prose writer, and one of the major figures of the Russian avant-garde. He was one of the founders of Russian Futurism and a reformer of poetic language. He was an experimenter in word creation and zaum, and referred to himself as the "president of the earth."
