The artist is considered one of the most important painters of Venetian vedute between the 19th and 20th centuries. He paid particular attention to Venetian architecture, earning him the nickname 'the painter of Venice'. He used a highly personal technique, giving his works a vibrant, intense light thanks to a very rich palette of colours.
