PARRY WILLIAM EDWARD: (1790-1855) Anglo-Welsh explorer of the Arctic who, in 1827, attempted one of the earliest expeditions to the North Pole. A.L.S., W E Parry, one page, 8vo, London, n.d. ('Saturday morng.', October 1851), to Admiral [William] Bowles. Parry writes, in full, 'At the risk of being thought capricious, I write to say that, if you will allow me to change my mind, I shall be glad to avail myself of your kind offer to take a bed, as well as a dinner, at your house on Monday.
