[PHILIPPINES]: MAGSAYSAY RAMON: (1907-1957) President of the Philippines 1953-57. T.L.S., Ramon Magsaysay, one page, 4to, Manila, 8th October 1954, to Thomas Scullion, on the printed stationery of Malacanang Palace. Magasaysay states that he has pleasure in granting his correspondent's request for a signed photograph (no longer present) and adds 'I hope this picture will serve to remind you of your friend who stands dedicated to the cause of democracy in this part of the world'. A single staple appears in the upper left corner. Together with Ferdinand Marcos (1917-1989) President of the Philippines 1965-86 and Prime Minister 1978-81. T.L.S., F Marcos, one page, 8vo, Manila, 25th November 1966, to Mrs. Edward M. Zwirn, on the printed stationery of Malacanang Palace. Marcos acknowledges his correspondent's letter and thanks her for her kind sentiments, continuing to add that he is pleased to send her a signed photograph (no longer present) as requested. VG, 2
