AN AUTOGRAPHED PHOTOGRAPH OF SARAH BERNHARDT (October 22, 1844 - March 26, 1923). Early photograph of Bernhardt (now cracked, not affecting figure) taken by Rochlitz Studio in 1917. With a dedication inscription in French dated in 1917 and signed. Bernhardt was Jewish French stage actress who starred in some of the most popular French plays of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and one of the early prominent actresses to make sound recordings and act in motion pictures. 12" x 10" in a larger antique frame 21" x 18" On the verso is a label of authenticity from The Scriptorium.
