A MAMLUK STYLE TEXTILE PANEL WITH QURANIC CALLIGRAPHY, 18TH CENTURY

An 18th-century Mamluk-style textile panel featuring Quranic calligraphy. The panel is long and narrow, with intricate golden embroidery on a brown fabric base. The inscription, written in traditional Arabic calligraphy, includes the phrase:

“الحمد لله رب العالمين الرحمن”

(“Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds, the Most Merciful”)

This phrase comes from Surah Al-Fatiha (1:1-2), the opening chapter of the Quran, emphasizing praise, divine sovereignty, and mercy.
