A CHINESE ENAMELLED PORCELAIN DISH FROM THE ZILLI SULTAN SERVICE, AH 1297/1878-80 A.D

A 19th-century Chinese porcelain dish, made for the Persian market, features intricate polychrome enamels in the famille rose palette. The dish is lavishly adorned with floral motifs, delicate lattice patterns, and reserved cartouches depicting figures in traditional Chinese dress, engaged in courtly and leisure scenes. At the center, a calligraphic medallion inscribed in Persian script dates the piece to AH 1297 (1878-80 AD), indicating its association with the Zill al-Sultan service, a group of porcelain commissions made for Persian royalty.
