R. Chaim Chizkiyahu Medini (1833-1905) was born in Jerusalem and studied under R. Yitzchok Kobo and R. Yosef Nissim Burlo. Orphaned of his father at a young age, he travelled to Constantinople where he taught Torah and served as a Dayan. He later served as Rav in Krasov, eventually returning to Eretz Yisroel where he became the Chief Rabbi of Chevron. Renowned as a phenomenal scholar and a great tsaddik he is best known for his encyclopedic magnum opus Sdei Chemed which was received to great acclaim.
