L’opera ricalca il capolavoro del Tiziano andato perduto in un incendio nel 1867. Il dipinto del maestro veneziano era ritenuto una delle sue massime espressioni, con l’Assunta della Chiesa dei Frari a Venezia, e spesso fu replicato da diversi pittori e talvolta maestri, come dimostra la tela di Johann Carl Loth datata 1691.

The artwork follows Titian's masterpiece which was lost in a fire in 1867. The painting by the Venetian master was considered one of its greatest expressions, with the Assumption of the Church of the Frari in Venice, and was often replicated by various painters and sometimes masters, as shown in the canvas by Johann Carl Loth dated 1691.
