N & C Berman's Marie Emmanuel Cruchet's "Sixteen-Surprise Magician" Automaton Replica
This automaton is a 1986 replica by Natalie and Conrad Berman, inspired by 19th-century French designs. While it bears a resemblance to Zoltar from Big, it is more likely based on Marie Emmanuel Cruchet's Sixteen-Surprise Magician automaton from the 1830s-1840s, given the similarities in movement and scene. We tested it but could not get it to function. It includes its key and glass cover but is missing one wooden border, possibly from a past repair attempt.
