The inscription on the back reads: 誥封宜人先妣杜太宜人之像 孝男汝 鑑鎔 奉祀
This can be translated as: Portrait of Madame Du, honored as 'Yi Ren' by imperial decree, respectfully dedicated by her filial son, Ru.
