The publication came out after the death of the historian, who managed to process only the first two parts, including the birth of Emperor Nicholas and before the suppression of the Polish revolt in 1831.
The two parts were published under the supervision of the editor of «Historical Bulletin» Sergey Nikolaevich Shubinsky.
He also made a selection of illustrations for the publication
