A DIAMOND RING
Set with a cushion-cut imperial topaz, within a claw-set to the pavé-set brilliant-cut diamond surround, to the bifurcated half-hoop, mounted in 18K white gold, topaz weighing approximately 9.20 carats, diamonds weighing approximately 1.20 carats in total, ring size 6
During the nineteenth-century, the Ural Mountains in Russia were the leading source for topaz, especially the pink variety. The breathtaking pink gemstone was named ‘Imperial Topaz’ in honor of the Russia czar and only royalties were allowed to own the stone.

Today, the term ‘Imperial Topaz’ describes topaz color ranges from reddish orange to orange-red and red color, representing the most sought-after and valuable kind of Topaz. Topazes that contain the color red are rare and highly cherished by gem collectors, only less than one-half of one percent of facet-grade materials found are in the shade.

The 9.20 carats Imperial topaz of reddish orange color, depicting the warmth of a poignant setting sun presents in Lot 2095, is the perfect example of a fine ‘Imperial Topaz’.
