A DIAMOND NECKLACE
Designed as a strand of forty-one oval- and cushion-cut rubies weighing 47.02 carats in total, to the openwork stylized neckchain, mounted in yellow gold, length 44.50 cm
Accompanied by forty-one reports dated 24th April 2017 from the GemResearchSwisslab, stating that the 1.75 to 0.68 carat natural rubies are vivid red color (GRS type “pigeon’s blood”), originate from Burma (Myanmar) and have no indication of thermal treatment

Burma has long been recognized and associated with the finest ruby in the world. Ruby from this famed region contains such unique characteristics that amass immense fervency among gem connoisseurs and collectors in recent years. It is so desirable and sought-after due to its exquisite saturated and glowing red appearance, which is produce only when high chromium content and strong red fluorescence are combined to perfection. This characteristic is also known as ‘pigeon blood’, suggesting the superior color as the first two drop of blood from a freshly killed pigeon.

As the region is yielding fewer stones and majority of the rubies in the market have undergone thermal enhancement. To acquire a completely treatment free Burmese ‘pigeon blood’ ruby is extremely rare and difficult. Needless to say, Lot 2102 comprises forty-one natural unheated Burmese ‘pigeon blood’ rubies, ‘rare’ would be an understatement.
