Tables taken from "Der Weisskunig or The White King", a chivalrous novel inspired by Emperor Maximilian I (1486-1519) written in German by the emperor himself and his secretary between 1515 and 1516. The work is best known for its numerous woodcut tables, carved in Augsburg between 1514 and 1516 by Hans Burgkmair and Leonhard Beck, and was never finished. The first complete edition appeared only in 1775, printed in Vienna.
