L'opera in esame si rifà al celebre dipinto di Annibale Carracci, oggi conservato alla National Gallery di Londra, realizzato intorno al 1604-1606. Le dimensioni sono più ridotte, e l’opera ha un formato verticale anziché orizzontale, come l’opera scozzese. Inoltre, è da segnalare come il nostro anonimo maestro abbia aggiunto i segni della passione, corona e chiodi, ai piedi del gruppo di figure, segno che egli godeva di uno status che gli permetteva una certa autonomia esecutiva.

The artwork in question refers to the famous painting by Annibale Carracci, now preserved in the National Gallery in London, made around 1604-1606. The dimensions are smaller, and the artwork has a vertical rather than a horizontal format, like the scottish artwork. Furthermore, it should be noted that our anonymous master added the signs of the passion, crown and nails, at the foot of the group of figures, a sign that he enjoyed a status that allowed him a certain executive autonomy.
