Mudejar jar with a globular body. Toledo, late 15th century. In fired clay with incised decoration of horizontal bands with vegetal motifs and stamped with square stamps representing a rampant lion, a crowned Greek "Y", an allusion to Queen Elizabeth the Catholic and a motif of Islamic influence of geometric flower with a star in the inside. Possibly it would belong to the trousseau of the palaces of the queen or it could also be a gift for distinguished characters close to the sovereign. These jars were already used in Islamic times and later in the Christian world for the storage and preservation of solid or liquid provisions. We find similar examples in the Archaeological Museum of Seville, in the Museum of Santa Cruz and in the Museo del Greco in Toledo. Attached study carried out by Ramón Cano Picó. 57 x 55 cm.
