RARE EGYPTIAN FAIENCE PLAQUE OF BES IN 'ASSYRIAN' DRESS
Late Period, 664 - 30 BC. A pale green faience relief intarsio plaque in a form of the god Bes draped in a long “Assyrian” tunic with the edges adorned with inlaid gemstones. The face is represented frontally with long curly beard and marked facial features. This plaque is probably of “Phoenician” production. Size: 70mm x 35mm; Weight: 45g Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex. Naji Asfar private collection. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
