A GOLD-INLAID OTTOMAN TABARZIN SADDEL AXE, 19TH CEN.
A rare battle axe called Tabar in iron and steel inlaid with a rich floral decoration and scrolls engraved in fine gold. The shaft is fitted with a gilded metal (brass) and covered in original velvet.
One side of the blade has the following inscription on it: "I put my trust in Allah". The other side has a prayer for Prophet Muhammad.
18th century or earlier.

Dimensions: L: 22 3/4 in., (58 cm.)
Condition: The tabarzin is in excellent condition considering the age and medium. The gold inlay is almost perfectly preserved. All parts are tight and original. No restoration or alteration. A small crack in the top mount.
