AN EXCELLENT GERMAN HIRSCHFANGER WITH GILT MOUNTS CA. 1780
German hunting knife (dager/hirschfanger) for foresters. With a gilt-brass hilt with the clamshell crossguard, white handle grip scales, three applied gilt-brass semi-spherical domes, blade with one deep fuller on each side marked with early Solingen markings on both sides. Original black leather scabbard with gilt-brass mounts and utility (skinning) knife.
